The history of the founding of the sanatorium "Magadan"

The Magadan Sanatorium was founded on September 11, 1947 by workers from the Far North, the Gold and Platinum mining union, on the site of the former estate of Count Sergei Dmitrievich Sheremetev, one of the most highly educated and notable people of the early twentieth century.

Choosing a place and creating a pioneer republic

This amazing corner of the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus in terms of its natural and climatic properties was chosen by representatives of the northern Dalstroy to create a recreation center for people working in the Far North, in the distant mining enterprises of Kolyma and Chukotka.

Northerners needed to think about their children first of all, because a child's growing body is more demanding of both the sun and bathing than an adult's body. It was then that the pioneer republic arose on the shores of the Black Sea, which became famous as one of the best pioneer camps in the country. The first capital buildings were built under the auspices of the camp in Magadan, and the territory was transformed.

Infrastructure development and transition to adult treatment

Adult recreation remained in the background until the early 70s, when the team created a boarding house with treatment, equipped with an advanced medical and preventive base at that time.

In the 80s and 90s, grandiose construction plans were outlined, future spacious buildings for recreation for children and adults, facilities for physical education and sports, and extensive infrastructure were modeled.

The reform period and the loss of funding

In 1992, the Severovostokzoloto association, which included the Magadan boarding house, began to reform in accordance with the new laws adopted. The enterprises that were part of it gained legal and financial independence, which eventually led to the liquidation of the association as the governing body of the gold mining industry in Kolyma and Chukotka.

For the Magadan Boarding house, this meant, first of all, the loss of funding to complete the construction of a nine-storey building, a medical building with two swimming pools, a stadium, a boiler room and a number of other facilities.

Creation of a joint-stock company and new achievements

In 1993, a limited liability partnership was established on the basis of the state enterprise Pension Magadan by 16 enterprises that were part of the Severovostokzoloto association, which was soon transformed into the open joint-stock company Pension Magadan in 1994.

Using the remaining funds of the founders and their own, the staff of the boarding house under the leadership of the Board of Directors, which was led by Sulima A.I., Shapiro S.N., Khristov V.K., and General Director Melkonyan V.I. completed the construction of a nine-story building with a built-in dining room for 400 people, which was able to receive in 2000 with high quality The new contingent of vacationers includes not only residents of Magadan and the Magadan region, but also other regions of Russia.: Moscow, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, Vorkuta, Voronezh.

One of the main qualitative changes in the status and level of operation of the health resort is that in 2002 the former boarding house became a sanatorium.
